Description
The Team
You will be part of the Public Works team serving the University Endowment Lands (UEL), a unique unincorporated community of approximately 4,000 residents located between the City of Vancouver and the University of British Columbia. The team operates much like a small municipal public works department, delivering essential services such as road maintenance, water and sewer operations, waste collection, and landscaping. Working alongside a close-knit group of about 10 employees, you will help maintain the infrastructure and public spaces that support daily life in the community.
The Role
In this role, you will support the maintenance and beautification of public spaces by performing landscaping, gardening, and grounds maintenance across the UEL. Your work will help maintain a high standard of public infrastructure and contribute to a clean, welcoming environment for residents and visitors. This hands-on, outdoor role involves physical labour-including lifting and repetitive tasks such as mowing and weeding-and offers the rewarding opportunity to make a visible impact in the community every day.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Grade 10 or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years related work experience.
Related work experience, must include all of the following:
- Experience operating powered landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, or similar tools.
- Experience performing physical work in varying weather conditions.
- Experience performing physically demanding outdoor labour, including tasks that require bending, kneeling, and working on hands and knees for extended periods.
- Experience performing grounds maintenance or landscaping duties such as grass cutting, planting, weeding, pruning, or debris removal.
Provisos /Willingness statements:
- Outdoor work in all weather environment.
- A valid BC Driver’s Licence.

About this Position:
Three (3) temporary positions are available from May to August 2026.
One (1) temporary position is available from May to October 2026.
These positions have full time on-site requirements.
These positions may be extended or become permanent.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
