Job Summary

The Team
The Access and Directory Management Services (ADMS) team is a well-established, collaborative group within the Cybersecurity and Digital Trust Branch, made up of 18 professionals who are passionate about securing digital identities across government. As part of a diverse and inclusive team of 11 specialists, you’ll work on critical identity infrastructure and authentication services that protect public sector employees and digital assets. The Role
This role is essential to keeping the BC Government’s digital systems secure and trustworthy. You’ll manage and improve cryptographic systems that protect sensitive information, support secure communication with Government partners, and help ensure that public services are safe and reliable for everyone. By leading efforts to modernize our security infrastructure-including preparing for future technologies like quantum computing-you’ll help shape a more secure, inclusive digital future for all British Columbians, ensuring that services remain accessible and protected for diverse communities across the province.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree in the information security, cyber security, information systems, computer science or related field, and 3 years of recent (within last 10 years) related experience; OR
  • Diploma in the information security, cyber security, information systems, computer science or related field, and 4 years of recent (within last 10 years) related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and recent (within last 10 years) related experience may be considered.

Related experience includes ALL of the following:

  • Four years of experience working in a complex, multi-team, enterprise environment.
  • Three years of experience supporting X.509 certificates.
  • Three years of experience using X.509 certificates to support various applications/protocols such as TLS, LDAPS, Windows Smartcard logon, IPSEC, custom applications, etc.
  • Three years of experience with tools such as WireShark/MS Netmon and Certutil.
  • Three years of experience with X.509 certificate extensions and how they impact certificate usage.
  • Three years of experience working in complex information technology environments.
  • Experience designing, implementing and supporting AD CS role in an enterprise environment with Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services with Microsoft Entra ID in an on-premise or hybrid cloud-based enterprise environment.
  • Experience leading AD CS related implementation projects in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience implementing and supporting Microsoft Internet Information Server, Web Enrollment Pages, and Network Device Enrollment Service.
  • Experience with Windows Batch files or Powershell.
  • Experience with CRL distribution points, and Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP).
  • Experience translating complex functional, technical, security and business requirements into architectural designs or plans.
  • Experience in creating technical documentation/technical content.

Preference may be given to candidates with any of the following:

  • Experience with other, (non-Microsoft), PKI environments, such as Entrust PKI.
  • Experience with Entrust mPKI environment, including Certification Authorities, LDAP directories, and User Management System.
  • Experience with technologies used within a PKI environment, including hardware security modules (both networked and personal), databases, and desktop software.
  • Experience with configuring and supporting Entrust Desktop Software, including Entrust Certificate Agent for Windows and Outlook, and SafeNet Authentication Client.
  • Experience with cross certified PKI environments.
  • Any professional certifications from Microsoft, Amazon, or other Cloud based services (e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK), Microsoft Certified Specialist Implementing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions, etc.).
  • Professional designation as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional or Certified Information Security Manager, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Agile Framework and Agile best practices.
  • Experience with Lean, Work Breakdown Structures, Scrum/Kanban processes and Business Process Modelling.
  • Experience with supervising technical staff.
  • Preference may be given to a candidate with more years of experience.
