Description
The Team
At Victoria Law Courts we are a dedicated and collaborative team responsible for managing both Provincial and Supreme Court matters in British Columbia. Our team of just over 50 people, including Court/Registry Clerks, Registry Technicians, Justices of the Peace, Deputy District Registrars, Supervisors and Managers, plays a critical role in ensuring access to justice through a strong partnership with the judiciary and other justice partners. We value teamwork, diversity, and the unique contributions of each member in supporting a fair and effective court system for the community.
The Role
As a Court Clerk, you will play an important role in supporting fair and accessible justice by providing both in-court and administrative services. You’ll prepare and manage court documents, record proceedings, handle exhibits, and work closely with judges, lawyers, justice partners, and the public. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
• Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED).
• 2 years of experience working in an office environment; OR
• A combination of 2 years of customer service, clerical duties, office experience and education.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, standard computer applications and software programs (e.g., Windows, MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preference may be given to applicants with:
• Experience in Court Programs and Applications (JUSTIN, CEIS, ARC, CTAS, CCD).
• Experience as a court clerk and/or registry clerk.
• 1 year of previous work experience in a court or legal environment.
