Job Summary

The Team
The leadership team within BC Corrections’ Adult Custody division is dedicated to protecting communities while supporting positive outcomes for individuals in custody through rehabilitation, case management, and evidence-based programming. Working in a diverse and inclusive environment, the team collaborates with staff, community partners, and justice system stakeholders to ensure safe, respectful, and equitable services that meet the needs of people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Through strong operational leadership, the team balances safety, security, legislative compliance, and effective resource management in a 24/7 correctional setting.

The Role
The Warden’s Assistant plays a key role in supporting the leadership team and helping ensure correctional services are delivered effectively and efficiently. This position leads administrative services, coordinates important information and communications, and provides confidential support on sensitive and time-sensitive matters. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED).
  • A minimum of 2 years of clerical/administrative support experience, education and/or training.
  • Experience in dealing with confidential matters using sound judgment, tact and diplomacy; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training may be considered.
  • Minimum of 50 words per minute (WPM) in keyboarding.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; use of the Internet; and other standard computer applications.
  • Experience in providing services to various levels of government, industry, public and private organizations.
  • Experience in supervising staff.
  • Experience working well with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
