Job Summary

The Team
Joining a core group of Assistant Deputy Attorney General (ADAG) Executive Support Staff, you'll be part of a close-knit team including the ADAG, Chief of Legal Strategy, Chief of Legal Operations, Deputy Supervisor, and Legal Counsel. Our collaborative group ensures efficient and effective service delivery for the Legal Services Branch.

The Role
The Legal Assistant (LA) provides high level legal and administrative support to the Office of the ADAG, including case file management, legal document preparation, research, scheduling. The LA supports the work involving a variety of legal and policy issues, contributing directly to the quality and effectiveness of legal services delivered to government ministries, crown corporations, cabinet, and the Office of the Premier, among others. In this role, you’ll assist with critical tasks, support executive decision-making, and gain a "bird's eye" view of the fascinating legal and policy matters handled on a daily basis. The team provides comprehensive training and is supportive of ongoing professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Grade 12 graduation, or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Legal Assistant Certificate (or equivalent).
  • One (1) year of experience working in a Legal Office environment.
  • A combination of related education and experience may be considered


Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Two (2) years or more of experience working in a Legal Office environment.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work 2 or more days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
