Job Summary

The Team
The Services to Adults Division at the Public Guardian and Trustee (PGT) is a collaborative and client-focused team dedicated to supporting vulnerable adults who need help with personal, financial, or legal decision-making. Team members work closely together and with community partners to ensure decisions are made with integrity, compassion, and the highest ethical standards.

The Role
The position provides administrative support services to in‐house counsel in the Services to Adults Division. In addition, the position work closely with other support staff in Services to Adults to ensure seamless services to clients. The legal assistant reports to the Administrative Team Leader. Work is assigned by their supervisor and/or in‐house counsel to provide legal services for vulnerable adults who may need help managing their legal affairs.


Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
  • 1+ years experience working in a legal office in a legal administrative support capacity
  • Keyboarding speed of 50 words per minute
  • Intermediate word processing knowledge (MS Office).


PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN TO APPLICANTS WHO HAVE:

  • Who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit
  • Completion or partial completion of a Legal Administrative or Paralegal certificate
  • Equivalent 3 years experience as a Legal Assistant and/or paralegal (or combination of both, but no certification)

About this Position:

This is a temporary opportunity until December 15, 2026. This position may be extended or become permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Enhanced Security Screening will be required.
