Job Summary

The Team
The Prince George Fire Centre Dispatch Team is a well‑established and welcoming team. When fully staffed, the team includes 13 Dispatchers and 4 Dispatch Supervisors, bringing together a mix of seasoned professionals and newer team members who value teamwork, learning, and respect for diverse perspectives. Working closely with Dispatch Supervisors and regional wildfire leadership, the team plays a critical role in supporting field operations and staff safety, and is known for its strong commitment to providing reliable, inclusive, and high‑quality service to clients and colleagues.

The Role
As a Dispatcher, you will use wildfire applications to receive and share updates, communicate with field staff using tools like radios, monitor aircraft operations, follow emergency procedures, and keep clear and accurate wildfire records. Working closely with coordination centre staff and incident commanders, the team helps protect the public and forest resources from wildfire, making a meaningful impact for communities across the province. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s licence


Preference statement(s)

  • Demonstrate an accurate typing speed of 50 words per minute or greater
  • Certified as a Dispatcher or Dispatcher Type 3 or above or Radio Operator (RadO)
  • Experience working in a demanding environment with strict timelines
  • Experience working in an office and team setting
  • Experience in records management or filing
  • Experience in emergency response or dispatch
  • Experience working with computers and digital systems
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office suite

  • To be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities, assignments and corporate structures.
  • To keep current on emerging issues.
  • To take in-house training and certification as required.
  • To fly in aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) as required.
  • To work extended hours, including weekends, and be on standby with limited notice in accordance with the preparedness plan.

  • To participate in ICS positions as assigned.
  • To work under adverse or stressful conditions, including smoke, extreme heat and mountainous terrain in remote and isolated conditions.

About this Position:
This temporary (auxiliary) opportunity starts as soon as possible and ends in October 2026, with possibility of recall on a yearly basis.
