Job Summary

The Team

The BC Wildfire Service Recoveries Team supports the financial recovery of wildfire-related costs through detailed analysis, reporting, and documentation processes. Working within a high-volume and operationally focused environment, the team contributes to recovery initiatives related to disaster funding assistance, out-of-province and international cost recoveries, and other wildfire recovery agreements. The team collaborates closely with operational and financial partners to ensure accurate reporting, compliance with recovery requirements, and effective stewardship of public resources in support of BC Wildfire Service operations.

The Role

The Wildfire Recovery Clerk provides administrative and financial support for wildfire recovery projects by reviewing and analyzing fire-related financial and payroll transactions for accuracy and eligibility under recovery agreements. The role assists with compiling and validating documentation, identifying discrepancies, preparing summary materials, and supporting reporting processes for supervisor review. The position also contributes to training material development, participates in special projects and committees, and supports broader BC Wildfire Service operations, including assigned Incident Command System responsibilities during emergency response activities.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Experience working in an office setting and computerized systems.
• Preference may be given to candidates with financial administration experience.
• Preference may be given to candidates with accounts payable and/or payroll experience.
• Preference may be given to candidates with experience with BC Wildfire or in emergency management/response.
• Preference may be given to candidates with 1 or more years of experience with Microsoft Excel

About this Position

Currently there is 1 auxiliary, full-time opportunity available in Victoria until October 31, 2026.
An eligibility list may be established for future auxiliary opportunities.
The recruitment process for this competition may take place virtually.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week as per the Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
