Job Summary

The Team
The Ministry of Children and Family Development promotes and develops the capacity of families and communities to care for and protect vulnerable children and youth and supports healthy child and family development to maximize the potential of every child in BC. The Service Delivery Division is responsible for regional delivery of services and programs that support positive and healthy outcomes for children, youth and their families.

The Role
The Team Assistant has a primary focus on providing day-to-day program support within the social services office. The Team Assistant reports to an Office Manager or Administrative Supervisor This position requires a greater job knowledge needed to provide program support in programs such as mental health, and Children and Youth with Support Needs. The team assistant in this busy mental health office plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities while fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for clients.

Empathy is a powerful force in the role of an office assistant, especially in a mental health office where clients may be experiencing distress or vulnerability. We communicate with warmth and understanding, ensuring that every interaction-whether scheduling appointments, handling paperwork, or answering inquiries-is approached with patience and care. By actively listening and responding with sensitivity, an empathetic office assistant can create a space where individuals feel respected and valued, fostering a sense of trust within the office.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
  • A combination of three years of administrative support experience, education and/or training.
  • Demonstrated experience with word processing and database applications.
  • Experience providing client service.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until 11/28/2026, with the possibility of extension and/or the position becoming permanent.
Flexible work options are available, this position may be able to work up to one or more days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future permanent and temporary vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) will be required.
