Job Summary

The Team
Our Court Administration team at Nanaimo Law Courts plays a vital role in supporting access to justice for the community. As part of an established team of over 20 professionals, we provide registry programs and services, including case documentation and adjudication support, for both Provincial and Supreme Court matters. We value diversity, collaboration, and inclusion, working closely with justice partners to ensure fair and respectful service for everyone who interacts with the court system.

The Role
In this role, you’ll help keep the court system running by maintaining electronic and paper files, interpreting complex information, and providing clear, respectful service to people using the courts. Your work promotes timely and meaningful access to justice for everyone, and you’ll have the chance to collaborate with a wide range of participants in the justice system. This is an opportunity to make a real impact on the justice system in BC while working in an inclusive environment that values diversity and fairness.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent e.g. GED
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working in an office environment
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in keyboarding, data entry, word processing and standard computer applications
  • Must have a keyboarding minimum speed of 40 WPM

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience with JUSTIN and/or CEIS.
  • Experience or education in a related legal program or legal office environment.
  • Experience delivering customer service.
  • Experience in registry and in court activity programs

About this Position:
This position is based in Nanaimo.
This position is part time (0.5 # FTE, 35 hours biweekly)
This position has full time on-site requirements.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Enhanced Security Screening (ESS) will be required.
