The Team
At BC Corrections’ Adult Custody Division, the Business and Finance Offices at North Fraser Pretrial Center and Fraser Regional Correctional Centre are well-established, dedicated teams that play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the centres. We’re a close-knit group consisting of a Director of Business and Finance, a Business Office Manager, and several experienced Financial Clerks. Together, we handle a wide range of financial responsibilities, including payroll, inmate trust accounts, accounts payable and receivable, and other essential administrative functions. We work closely with correctional officers and administrative staff to ensure each facility operates smoothly and efficiently.
The Role
As a Financial Clerk, you'll handle a dynamic range of tasks, rotating through payroll for over 200 employees, accounts payable, and inmate trust accounts. You will be responsible for processing and verifying documents for accuracy, ensuring they meet all required policies and procedures. You’ll make sure proper authorizations and supporting documentation are included before entering transactions into a computerized system. This variety keeps your workday engaging and provides valuable experience across different financial functions. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Completion of secondary school/Grade 12.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a financial and administrative services environment including
accounts payable, account balancing and reconciliation and tracking, reviewing and correcting transactions; or
an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. - Experience with MS Office computer applications: Word and Excel.
- Experience with a computer based financial system.
- Experience in keyboarding and data entry.
- Experience handling cash transactions.
Preference may be given to those with:
- CAS, TLAM, and/or CORNET experience.
- Experience working in a Correctional Centre.
- Experience with Provincial Government Trust or Revenue Accounting.
- Experience with BC Government Finance and Administrative Policies and Procedures.

About this Position:
One (1) temporary position is available in Maple Ridge.
This is a temporary opportunity until June 30, 2026. This position may be extended or become permanent.
This position has full time on-site requirements.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies at either Port Coquitlam or Maple Ridge locations.
A Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) and Enhanced Security Screening will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
