The Branch of Regional and Indigenous Economic Policy supports Indigenous, rural and regional inclusion in the economy by supporting the implementation of the StrongerBC Economic Plan and upholding the Province’s commitment to reconciliation in the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act. The branch provides guidance, support and co-ordination on engagement, policy and economic development opportunities, creates tools and resources, and builds enduring relationships with external partners to advance Indigenous and regional economic initiatives.

The Economic Development UX and Design Specialist provides expertise in web management, user experience (UX) and service design. The position supports the division's online, content and metadata strategies ensuring alignment with corporate strategies/standards for web accessibility and human-centred design. The position is responsible for the maintenance, governance and development of web content, information architecture and analytics of the division’s web assets.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business Administration, Computer Science, Communications, User Experience Design or other related fields. An equivalent combination of two (2) years or more of education, training and experience may be considered.

  • A minimum of two (2) years experience utilizing user experience design methods (design research, strategy development) to plan and build web priorities, including experience in:

    • information architecture,

    • content development,

    • basic web graphic development and interaction design; and,

    • an equivalent combination of related experience, education or training.

  • Experience identifying current online service delivery trends and implementing improved/increased service delivery to partners.


Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience with digital and/or modernization projects for the web, including knowledge of User Experience (UX) best practices or UX certification.

  • Experience with content management systems (CMS Lite preferred), writing for online audiences and understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and enhanced search.

  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite or other design software.

  • Experience managing projects and/or project components, including knowledge of project management principles.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to five (5) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
