Job Summary

The Team
The Criminal Investigation Unit is a dedicated team that ensures the integrity of the Ministry’s programs through thorough criminal investigations. You’ll be working alongside Ministry Investigators and Senior Ministry Investigators, collaborating with administrative staff to protect and uphold the integrity of these vital services. The Role
As a Ministry Investigator, you will act as a Special Provincial Constable, conducting thorough investigations and special reviews of clients suspected of committing criminal offences under Ministry statutes and related Criminal Code violations. You’ll play a key role in determining enforcement actions and making recommendations to the Ministry of Attorney General. In this role, you’ll also evaluate loss prevention controls, provide detailed reports, and offer recommendations for improvements to the Executive Director of Prevention and Loss Management Services. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Post secondary education whether it be a Degree, Diploma, Certificate, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training in conducting criminal investigations.
  • Experience and training in criminal law and investigational techniques.
  • Must be able to attain and maintain the Special Provincial Constable designation.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience in completing complex court briefs, search warrants and / or production orders in criminal investigations.
  • Experience conducting criminal investigation in a financial crime setting.
  • Experience conducting criminal investigations relating to fraud.
  • Experience conducting criminal investigation relating to financial support programs.


PROVISOS

  • Must be willing to travel frequently.
  • Position requires a valid B.C. driver’s license.
  • May be required to travel alone, in remote areas throughout the province, under a variety of road/weather conditions, often without cellular contact. Overnight absences and the use of own vehicle may be required, where a government vehicle is not available, to conduct investigations and/or gather evidence.
  • May be required to operate a variety of equipment.

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
