Stockroom Material Handler - TERM

Facilities Maintenance Department

Position Status: Full-time Term

Expected End Date: October 30, 2024

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, between 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, which includes a 30 minute unpaid meal break

Salary range: $17.81 to $22.75 per hour ($37,038 to $47,324 per year)

Under the direction of the Team Lead - Mechanical or designate, the Stockroom Material Handler ensures the stockroom is equipped with the necessary equipment and supplies; maintains an inventory database; monitors the tools and equipment used by trades staff; responds to inquiries.

Qualifications

Knowledge of relevant Board policies and procedures, understanding of stockroom procedures, and knowledge of consumables used in trades industry.

Knowledge of computer applications, including word-processing, eBase, spreadsheets and other computer applications.

Interpersonal and communication skills to explain, exchange and provide information to departmental staff and Board personnel, using tact and diplomacy.

Organization and time management skills to prioritize work and meet deadlines.

Initiative and judgment required in order to set priorities and make decisions on stock inventory matters, while working independently and with minimal supervision.

Ability to operate a forklift and other lifting device, and lift objects in excess of 75 pounds.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

This knowledge would normally be obtained through completion of secondary school graduation diploma and one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Some experience in the use of databases would be an asset. Class 'G' driver's license required for making deliveries.

Note: The incumbent in this position will be provided with appropriate training including, but not limited to, the following: Transportation of Dangerous Goods, WHMIS, Megamations Info/Work Order System, Fall Protection/Ladder Training, BAS2000/SRB, and forklift training. A license to operate the forklift will be required prior to use.
