Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School (STS) is a premier co-educational day school nestled in the Foothills of the Rocky Mountains just outside of the City of Calgary on a 220-acre campus. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, STS offers all three IB Programmes from Kindergarten through to Grade 12.

In addition to the global perspective offered by the IB Diploma Programme, the School offers an extensive co-curricular program in a technology-rich environment. Position Overview

STS seeks a dynamic Learning Leader and Teacher for our vibrant IB Design program. As the school advances its position as a global hub of innovation, we need a visionary individual passionate about hands-on learning and technological integration. This role involves teaching four courses while also serving as a Learning Leader for the Design Department. As a member of the schools Pedagogical Leadership Team, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with fellow Learning Leaders and other members of the STS Senior Leadership Team to enhance our design, technology & innovation program, both within the timetable and as well as our co-curricular offerings, to position it as a unique and dynamic offering.

Core Areas of Responsibility

Teach four classes within the Design, Technology & Innovation program.

Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to implement a curriculum aligned with strategic priorities.

Collaborate with the Assistant Head of School: Academics to shape curriculum, assessment, and policies across the school.

Lead Design Department meetings, facilitate professional learning and plan curriculum and assessments.

Foster a culture of innovation, creativity, and problem-solving in learning environments.

Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills with faculty, students, and parents.

Contribute to and promote co-curricular programs

Champion the STS and IB Design Programs and liaise with academic leaders, faculty, parents, and school leadership.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelors or Masters degree, preferably in Technology, Sciences, Engineering, or Computer Science.

Equivalent industry experience considered.

Eligible for or holder of a current Alberta teaching certificate.

Leadership experience in team facilitation, strategic planning, and project management.

Demonstrated ability to lead and coach faculty and students in design thinking and key academic priorities.

Passion for teaching in Engineering, Technology, and Design fields, incorporating innovative technology.

Strong communication, organizational skills, and experience with cross-curricular planning.

Familiarity with learning management systems and differentiation strategies.

Commitment to collaborative teamwork and excellence in education.

Understanding of the IB MYP and IB DP Design approaches is ideal.

Demonstrated commitment to professional learning and ability to reflect on ones own practice.

Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and adaptable.
