Early Childhood Educator Casual Supply List

We are accepting applications from qualified applicants for our Early Childhood Educator (ECE) casual supply list . Casual Supply ECEs replace absent ECEs on an as-needed basis or for short-term assignments in elementary English and French Immersion Programs. Early Childhood Educators must possess willingness, along with the physical ability, to work with all of our students who have many diverse needs.

HOURS:

While there is no guarantee of hours per week as this is a casual position, a casual employee with full availability could work full-time (up to 32.5 hours per week) depending on need.

Casual Supply ECEs with the Board have opportunity to apply for vacant permanent or temporary positions as they arise, with possible consideration over external applicants.

LOCATION:

All geographical areas of the Board including North Wellington, Centre Wellington, East Wellington, Guelph, Orangeville, Dufferin County and Shelburne however Casual Supply ECEs may select specified areas in which they would like to work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Principal, the ECE will be part of the Early Learning team. In this role, the ECE will

collaborate with the classroom teacher to implement a full-day early learning program within a classroom

setting which will enhance children’s cognitive, physical, social and emotional development. The ECE will

share responsibilities with other educators for instruction, assessment, and supervision as well as

communication with families and school teams. The ECE will also establish and maintain collaborative

relationships with other community services providers working with children. The ECE may be required to

provide supervision and age-appropriate (learning) programming for groups of students as part of the

extended day program as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to candidates who have the following qualifications:

•2 year College Diploma in Early Childood Education

•Registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators

•Minimum 6 months of recent experience working with 4 or 5 year olds within a registered childcare setting, early learning centre or educational setting

•Knowledge of experience in early learning and child care programs

•Knowledge of early acquisition of literacy and numeracy skills

•Positive recomendation from current Supervisor

•Knowledge of Ministry of Education full-day learning and child care programs

•Ability to communicate in a sensitive, courteous manner with children, parents, staff and general public

•Understanding a commitment to confidentiality

•Basic computer and technological skills

•Ability to speak French is a definite asset

The successful external candidate will be required to produce an original Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) prior to the commencement of employment. The VSC must be dated within 6 months of the start date of employment. For further information, refer to the UGDSB’s Criminal Record Check requirements.
