Senior Underwriter Construction - Linx Underwriting Solutions
Linx Underwriting Solutions is an underwriting agency and a wholly owned subsidiary of Aon Canada, specializing in industry‑ and product‑specific solutions tailored to the Canadian market.
Linx is looking to hire a Senior Underwriter, Construction, who will underwrite a portfolio of diverse book of construction and contracting risks, delivering innovative and effective solutions to brokers and clients.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada. This role is not eligible for sponsorship, and we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa or work permit.

What the day will look like
- Be a key player and contributor in working with management and colleagues to expand the Linx project construction offering and programs
- Share your industry experience and knowledge with more junior team members, our broker force and our markets Underwriting of Builders Risk and Wrap Up liability policies
- Analyze new business and project extensions and provide terms based upon our underwriting guidelines o Develop clear and concise underwriting proposals for accounts which may fall outside underwriting authority
- Negotiate terms, conditions and pricing within the parameters of our program underwriting guidelines/authorities
- Find opportunities to upsell coverage, limits or products o Main high level of service with your customer service focus and solutions orientated approach
- Build a network of relationships with our brokers and our various markets
- Be involved in the training and development for more junior underwriters/underwriting assistants.
- Monitor and assess competitive factors in the marketplace and keep your team informed of any changing market conditions
- Other duties as assigned
How this opportunity is different
We write a diverse book of business covering a wide range of clients including but not limited to: construction, real estate, retail, manufacturing, wholesale, forestry, public entities and Indigenous services.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a good understanding of portfolio management, excellent listening skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both brokers and our insurance partners to drive an aligned strategy to profitably grow our business.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
- 5+ years of experience underwriting a diverse portfolio of construction and contracting risks
- Cross‑Canada underwriting experience is considered an asset
- Strong decision‑making skills with sound underwriting judgment
- Creative, focused approach to problem solving
- Robust analytical and risk assessment capabilities
- Ability to clearly and concisely communicate underwriting rationale and decision‑making
- Proven ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
- Strong understanding of the time‑sensitive nature of the construction project market
- Collaborative teammate with a client‑ and broker‑focused attitude
- Experience mentoring or training junior underwriters is an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
