POSITION TITLE:     Senior HR Business Partner Canada - Stores (Field)
REPORTS TO:           Director - Human Resources - Commercial
DIRECT REPORTS:   N/A

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior HR Business Partner (Sr HRBP) is the key partner for Store Associates and Field Leaders across Canada providing expertise, coaching and advice primarily in the areas of employee relations and interpretation of policies and procedures.  Working in close partnership with the Store teams and Regional leaders, the Sr HRBP is accountable for utilizing communication expertise to deliver relevant and effective employee relations solutions.  The Sr HRBP will drive efforts to maintain and create a culture that promotes positive employee relations and engagement

RESPONSIBILITIES - STORES (FIELD):

  • Conduct employee relations investigations, analyze organizational issues, and work in partnership with HR leadership to develop and execute plans to address problem areas
  • Guide direct business partners on the execution of HR policies and procedures to ensure, appropriate legal (EEO, etc.) and organizational compliance
  • Collect data and present the Regional trends across employee relations cases to assess organizational needs and assist HR leadership in diagnosing root cause problems that impact overall organizational health 
  • Provide counseling and direction to employees, facilitate communication, and help resolve conflicts that impact employee engagement
  • Partner closely with internal legal counsel, external Canadian legal counsel and compliance to ensure consistency in HR practices and policy application
  • Advocate for initiatives that will positively impact the store associate population
  • Maintain working knowledge of Canadian employment law requirements to reduce legal risks and ensure regulatory 
  • Proactively provide specific resources as it relates to the overall improvement of our workplace culture 
  • Respond to all general questions from field associates such as letters of employment, confirmation of earnings, and employment verifications
  • Facilitate climate surveys with store-level associates to assess culture and engagement
  • Perform additional duties, projects, etc. as necessary that support the field organization

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources
  • 5+ years of progressive HR Generalist or HRBP experience
  • Bilingual preferred (English/French)
  • HR experience supporting retail stores or multi-unit food service industry required
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
  • Sound  knowledge and understanding of Employment Standards Act 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team
  • High level of personal and professional integrity and ethics (authentic, compassionate, genuine, and honest)
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated experience supporting stores both in-person and remotely
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting
  • Open availability and flexibility to work according to the needs of the business
  • Specialty retail experience preferred
  • Ability to travel as necessary
