Description
The Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury is a stand-alone Psychiatric facility located in Ponoka, a community 3 min off the Queen Elizabeth II Highway between Red Deer and Edmonton. As the Unit Manager within the Brain Injury and Specialized Services Program, you will be providing service to the Psychosocial Rehabilitation population, encompassing 16 beds on Marion and 16 beds on Malmo. Care and treatment are provided for those individuals experiencing a severe and persistent mental illness to support recovery. You will be working within a client centered treatment approach, with a recovery model philosophy. You will also ensure effective operation of the units assuming responsibilities that contribute to the learning experience of students, staff and patients. This position currently also supports the PSR program at Kentwood in Red Deer. Reporting to the Program Director, you will be accountable for the quality of all aspects of patient care.
Your responsibilities will include maintaining standards of the program and ensuring consistency in the delivery of care and accessibility of service. You will be responsible for recruiting and selecting staff to meet operational needs, managing staff performance, and participating in quality management initiatives. You will have strong clinical leadership, management, and organizational skills, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will have the ability to facilitate change, promote excellence in interpersonal and interdisciplinary team skills, and demonstrate a high level of initiative and creative problem-solving abilities. You will have demonstrated fiscal management ability, will be committed to continuous quality improvement and you will build collaborative relationships with other service providers.
Currently registered with appropriate professional college or association as is required by the Health Professions Act. Have a valid certificate as Basic Life Support Health Care Provider - Level C (BCLS-HCP).

A Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred, or a combination of relevant education and minimum of five years relevant mental health experience. Equivalencies may be considered in leadership experience or education.
