Description
Join our dedicated team at Leduc Community Hospital as a Surgical Booking Clerk within the Perioperative Services Department. Reporting to the Manager of Perioperative Services, you will play a key role in coordinating operating room schedules, surgical bookings, consultations, and appointments. You will also provide general clerical support as assigned. In this role, you will ensure the smooth and efficient flow of communication between healthcare professionals, departments, patients, and families. Professionalism, confidentiality, and courtesy are essential in all interactions. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will contribute to the delivery of high-quality surgical care. As part of our commitment to the Alberta Surgical Initiative and Edmonton Zone, our team focuses on providing accessible, evidence-based healthcare through innovative and efficient use of resources. You may also be cross-trained to support other areas within the Perioperative Services department. As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Minimum 1 year experience in a surgical booking office or equivalent. Excellent accurate, respectful, and professional verbal and written communication skills. Strong command English, both written and verbal. Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to work with the patient population in a respectful, sensitive, and confidential manner. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of governing privacy legislation. Superior organizational skills and able to multitask. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to identify and resolve problems quickly and effectively. Strong computer skills.
