We are seeking a dedicated and personable individual to join our team as a Unit Clerk at the Postpartum unit at Sturgeon Community Hospital. In this key role, you will support the day-to-day operations of the unit by ensuring efficient communication between healthcare providers, departments, patients, and families. As the first point of contact for many, you will be responsible for greeting and directing visitors, managing incoming calls, and maintaining a welcoming and professional environment. You will play an essential role in coordinating administrative processes, including patient admissions, transfers, creation of ULI’s, and supporting scheduling processes as required. Working closely with the Unit Manager and interdisciplinary team, you will help ensure seamless coordination of care in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This position requires a highly organized individual who can effectively manage multiple priorities, adapt to frequent interruptions, and maintain strict confidentiality. The ideal candidate is approachable, adaptable, and thrives in a team-oriented setting. You demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Previous experience as a Unit Clerk within an Obstetrical setting.
