Description
Cancer Care Alberta is currently looking for a Unit Clerk to join our team at the new, state of the art, Arthur Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Calgary. The Arthur Child is a world-class facility that provides care to cancer patients. Designed for the future of cancer care, the AC features 1.3 million square feet of bright, modern design, innovative equipment and an integrated approach to research and optimizing care for our patients, families and staff. The unit clerk plays an integral role in facilitating communication between physicians, nursing and other disciplines and patients and families. This individual is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of patient information. The Unit Clerk provides integral support to nursing and other professional disciplines in order for them to provide focused patient care as needed.
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Must be able to lift up to 26lbs from floor to waist. Demonstrated communication skills verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Initiate to problem solve, prioritize and organize workload independently. Ability to adjust to rapidly changing needs of the patients, staff and unit as a whole. Ability to work well within a team and deal effectively with conflict. Experience with connect care.
Experience with the iproc ordering system. Familiar with DATA and Grand and Toy ordering.
