Description
Under limited supervision, the Unit Clerk plays a vital role in supporting the Women’s Health units, including Postpartum and Labour & Delivery, at Rockyview General Hospital. This position is essential to the smooth and efficient operation of the units, serving as the first point of contact for patients, families, and healthcare professionals. The Unit Clerk is responsible for performing a variety of duties, ensuring accurate documentation and maintaining confidentiality of patient information. Acting as a key communicator, the Unit Clerk facilitates coordination between nursing staff, physicians, and other hospital departments, contributing to a positive and organized environment. As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
At least 1 year recent experience in a Unit Clerk position in Labour & Delivery, Maternity Triage & Postpartum is required. Experience with Connect Care required. Experience with MS Word and Excel required.
Fluent in English and working knowledge of medical terminology is required. Must have excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize. Must be able to cope with frequent interruptions and work under pressure within a stressful, demanding, and rapidly changing environment.
