Description
If you are a Unit Clerk who likes small town living, this position in Tofield might be for you! Experience the variety of rural unit clerking and easily access big city amenities less than an hour’s drive from Edmonton! As the successful candidate for this position, you will cover the Continuing Care in the Tofield Health Centre and model Patient and Family Centered Care. Situated 69km east of Edmonton, Tofield is an urban center serving an agricultural region. The town has a population of 1,942 while the county has approximately 6,000 people. Residents have easy access to the downtown and commercial areas as well as several parks and playgrounds. The town has a grocery store, several restaurants, gas stations, two banks, various businesses, churches, two schools with kindergarten to grade 12, an arena, curling rink, gym and a golf course. As members of the nursing team, Unit Clerks are responsible for the clerical duties and overall coordination of the nursing station and work closely with the Unit Manager.
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Minimum 5 years of Unit Clerk experience. Knowledge of medical terminology and treatment methods. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are fundamental. Superior organization skills. Evidence of initiative, flexibility and creativity.
Belite training. Computer experience in Microsoft Office. Typing 40 wpm. Connect Care and e-People Payroll is preferred.
