Reporting to the Manager of the East Edmonton Family and Urgent Care Clinic, this position functions as part of a multidisciplinary team. The incumbent will: Provide administrative/clerical services for the clinic staff and clients by performing a variety of diversified tasks including coordinating client care as directed by the Manager. Work collaboratively with Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and various other multidisciplinary staff. Maintain adequate inventory of office/clerical supplies, coordinating patient booking and referrals with internal/external services, departments, and staff members. Cross-training for coverage of staffing person when required. Actively participate in program development and in interdisciplinary collaboration within a primary care practice which also includes urgent care services. In the event of a public health emergency, staff from this program will be deployed as required. Bulk Hire includes position number 00195580. There are 2 positions available.

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Completion of a Medical Terminology course is required. A minimum of one year of recent experience as a Unit Clerk in a primary care setting is required. Required to have Connect Care knowledge. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and adapt to frequent interruptions in work activities as well as changing demands with strong attention to detail. Effective interpersonal communication and customer service skills cross cultural sensitivity, and strong organizational skills, with the capacity for self-direction and autonomous practice, are required.

Experience in an Urgent Care setting preferred. Knowledge and skills in computerized admission/discharge/transfer systems.
