Description
This is an exciting opportunity for a Unit Clerk in the Adult Inpatient Unit at the Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury (CCMHBI) in Ponoka. CCMHBI is a campus of specialists and health professionals who are committed to integrated, multi-disciplinary care and treatment to ensure the best outcomes for patients and their families. This position requires a highly motivated individual who is keenly interested in working with people. Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills are large contributors to success in this position. As a Unit Clerk, you will be instrumental in facilitating communication between nursing and other health disciplines, departments, patients, and families. You will also be responsible for requisitioning of office and patient care supplies. You will have the ability to work cooperatively within a team environment and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills. You will have an excellent attendance record. Reporting to the Unit Manger, the Unit Clerk is a coordinator and a central source of information and record keeping relating to the activities, communication, and service for the patients on the nursing unit. The Unit Clerk acts as a liaison between members of the interdisciplinary team as well as other hospital and non-hospital staff. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Connect Care experience required. ESP experience required.
Experience in a Mental Health setting preferred.
