The South Health Campus (SHC) has four key pillars of service: Collaborative Practice, Wellness, Patient and family-centered care, and Innovation. These pillars guide the development and delivery of service to all patients and families at SHC. The Allied Health Department provides services to inpatient units and outpatient service areas. Under general supervision from the Allied Health Assistant Manager and support from the Clinical Practice Leader, the Therapy Assistant is responsible for carrying out individual and group intervention, splinting and sewing, as assigned by a therapist, as well as performing various department support functions. As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, or Speech Language Pathologists. The caseload for this position is in the NICU, the Pediatric Outpatient area and provides regular coverage to acute medical, neurology and surgical inpatient areas. This is a unique opportunity to work with patients and families across the continuum of care. The pediatric service provides group and individual support to patients with developmental needs. The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, along with strong communication, time management and organizational skills are required. This position involves weekend coverage on a rotational basis. It is physically demanding and requires repetitive lifting and transferring of patients and/or equipment. The caseload for all positions within the Allied Health department may be subject to change based on operational considerations.

This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.
