Staff at the Edmonton Vaccine Depot work within the Allied Health Community portfolio and report directly to the Allied Health Manager. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to support departmental operations related to the ordering, receiving, storage and handling, distribution and data management for provincially funded vaccines, cost recovery vaccines as well as other biologicals, supplies and equipment. Vaccine Depot staff communicate information, guidance and established procedures in relation to vaccine storage and management to both AHS and non-AHS partners to ensure effective vaccine management and inventory as well as supply provincially funded vaccine programs (routine, school, influenza, COVID-19, after-hours). A thorough understanding of the provincial and national vaccine storage and handling regulations is required. Staff must respond to high volume and heavy physical workloads in a cool environment (+2-+8 degrees Celsius) as well as sit for prolonged periods of time to accomplish routine and repetitive administrative tasks. The position includes bending, lifting, and standing. Vaccine Depot staff members must also respond 24/7 after hours for site issues, fridge failures, and urgent vaccine requests as part of on call responsibilities.

As a Stores I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks associated with the picking, packaging, shipping and receiving of orders for hospital supplies, equipment and/or food in accordance with AHS guidelines and standards. You will process incoming requisitions and distribute supplies, complete cart audits for quality assurance and communicates frequently with stakeholders to ensure appropriate and correct quantity of supplies are available. In addition, you will track and report on inventory to ensure over stocking does not occur.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Must be capable of pushing and pulling heavy wheeled carts up to and occasionally exceeding 275 Kgs. Must be capable of walking and or standing for long periods of time. Must regularly use hand and arms to reach, lift, and carry heavy items up to 25 kg.

The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong computer competency skills; able to work independently. The successful candidate should be organized, able to problem solve, easily follow operational procedures, liaison with stakeholders and have a client centered approach.

Preference will go to those who have vaccine storage and handling experience and knowledge of Public Health programs. Connect Care- Willow and Alberta Vaccine Inventory systems experience.
