We are seeking a compassionate, experienced Social Worker (SW-III) to join our Older Adult Psychiatry Day Program. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will implement evidence-informed, recovery-oriented practices with older adults experiencing complex psychiatric, cognitive, chronic health and/or substance use disorders, as well as behavioural and psychosocial issues. In this role, you will focus on delivering trauma-informed, culturally sensitive mental health group therapies tailored to the unique needs of older adults, including but not limited to psychoeducation, skills teaching, behavioural activation, CBT, DBT, MI, and IPT. Additional responsibilities will include referral triage, intake assessment, mental health and risk assessment, collaborative goal-setting, liaison and referral to community supports and services, discharge planning and outcome evaluation. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of programs and services for older adults with mental health and psychosocial concerns and a keen awareness of the unique needs of the older adult population. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage sensitive situations with compassion and professionalism. The SW-III works in conjunction with the SW-IIIs on the inpatient unit, and is supported by the multidisciplinary team, staff psychiatrists, clinical supervisor and Unit Manager. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Social Worker III, you will perform either advanced level assessment and treatment or act as a clinical lead. You will work with or within teams to provide health care services for patients with complex and multidimensional medical, psychosocial, environmental and instrumental needs. You will provide advanced clinical services, consultation to the interprofessional team and patients/families and supervision of students and team members as assigned. You may also act as a clinical lead providing leadership in the planning, development, and delivery of services in a specific area, as well as staff development, quality improvement and evaluation or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s).

Master's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training Completion of SPRAM and trauma-informed care modules Documented training in one or more evidence-based therapies (e.g., CBT, DBT, SFT, IPT) Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mental health care Minimum 1 year experience facilitating psychoeducational and/or psychotherapeutic groups.

Demonstrated proficiency conducting psychosocial interviews, completing screening assessments related to mood, anxiety, suicidality, and cognition Experience with motivational interviewing and goal-focused care planning Working knowledge of psychotropic medications, sleep, and pain medications. Familiarity with recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care models Clinical experience in inpatient or outpatient geriatric psychiatry settings
