Reporting to the Unit Manager for Unit 10-2A, the Social Worker is part of an interdisciplinary team that facilitates the recovery of Addiction & Mental Health patients by assisting with their psychosocial needs while in hospital. Duties include assessment, education, treatment, advocacy, resource finding, consultation and discharge planning for patients and their families. The incumbent will also participate in non-patient care activities such as program planning, evaluation, quality improvement, research, and staff development, along with other duties as required by the Unit Manager. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Masters of Social Work is desirable. CPR (BLS-HCP) certification is necessary. The incumbent must have strong communication skills and must be able to work cooperatively with the health care team members, patients and their families in a fast-paced environment. An ability to incorporate professional judgment when making decisions is required. Initiative and time-management skills are necessary. An ability to work with various computer programs is required.

Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in working with clients with concurrent disorders and are appropriately able to assess and manage signs of withdrawal from multiple substances.
