Description
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a high-stress high-volume environment for an experienced social worker II in the Stollery Pediatric Intensive Care Unit/Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. The successful candidate will be highly skilled in team dynamics; multidisciplinary team rounding; collaboration and teaching; supporting families on a long-term basis and in maintenance and crisis intervention for chronic conditions. Experience in a pediatric quaternary center is a requirement. Strong communicator with well-established community resource supports and networks. Your knowledge and compassion will benefit the families and children as well as their collective support networks, schools, community agencies, and government programs. The successful candidate will advocate for knowledge translation and access to all available services. Your strength-based approach and your diversity and inclusion practices will assist the families in reaching the best outcomes for ongoing health success. You will have a proven track record for maintaining professional boundaries and practicing within the established policies and procedures of Alberta Health Services. You will magnify the values and mission of Alberta Health Services and have proven engagement strategies to meet the needs of our children. The successful candidate will serve as an advocate and champion for our patients and their families and will be compassionate and caring with a focus on patient and family-centered care. When required, the successful candidate will provide support to other areas of service within the Pediatric Social Work Program.
As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.
Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Diversity and inclusion training. Indigenous awareness training. Basic Life Support. Current experience in a Pediatric Intensive Care setting or 3 years' experience in a Pediatric Quaternary care setting Ability to communicate and collaborate with multiple physicians and agencies. Active listening and empathy. Critical thinking for complex situations and solution focused. Must be highly organized.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Second language. Analytical skill. Well-developed written and oral communication.
