Red Deer Hospital has an exciting opportunity for casual Social Workers (SW), working on its very busy Adult Psychiatry Unit. As our SW, you will be working both independently and in close collaboration as part of a dynamic, interprofessional team including other allied health professionals, responsible for providing client centered care to adult patients. You will assess individual needs based on abilities, interactions and participation and follow-up with planning, implementing and evaluating safe quality programs aimed at enhancing optimal patient function. You will collaborate and develop effective partnerships with other providers with a focus on prevention, protection, treatment and promotion for adults across the continuum of services. The successful candidate will have a broad skill set to meet a variety of patient's needs and will share the responsibility for mentoring SW students. Red Deer is located in Central Alberta near the midpoint of the Calgary-Edmonton Corridor and is surrounded by Red Deer County. It is Alberta's third-most-populous city - after Calgary and Edmonton with just over 100,000 citizens. The Red Deer area has one of the fastest growing economies in North America and is consistently ranked as a prime location for doing business. As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Previous experience working in Mental Health.

Acute care experience as Social Worker.
