Description
Rockview General Hospital (RGH), Calgary’s second largest tertiary care site, is excited to announce the development of a new Endoscopy department, designed with a focus on enhancing patient and staff experiences. We are currently recruiting a permanent full time Service Worker to be part of this innovative new department. Under the supervision of the Unit Manager for the department, the Service Worker will be responsible for a variety of tasks supporting the department’s operations, including transporting equipment, stocking and organizing supply areas, linen handling, and cleaning patient care areas. In collaboration with the Nurse Clinician, the Service Worker will also assist Supply Management in managing supply quotas and ensuring the timely delivery of any specialty items needed in the department. RGH is in Calgary’s Southwest, offering a full spectrum of healthcare services including acute care, surgical, medical, and mental health services. With two dedicated Acute Geriatric Units (AGU) for the Calgary Zone, RGH is at the forefront of healthcare excellence in the region.
As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.
Grade 12 or equivalent.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal/communication skills required. Demonstrated ability to work independently, with ability to anticipate the needs of multiple clinics. Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft 365 including excel, outlook and word. Proficient skills in both written and spoken English. Demonstrated strong organization and prioritization skills. Demonstrated understanding of Infection Prevention & Control routine practices including handling of patient care items and equipment. Must be physically able to perform task assigned, such as lifting, walking, bending, stocking supplies, transporting equipment and lift to 50 lbs.
Recent experience as a Service Worker preferred. Experience with family centered and collaborative practice approach and philosophy preferred. Knowledge of the Rockyview Site is an asset.
