Description
The primary function of this position is (planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation) divisional and provincial initiatives and projects within EHS Clinical Practice related to quality management and improvement, accreditation, risk management, patient safety, research, clinical surveillance and utilization management in collaboration with EHS stakeholders. This position contributes to the EHS mandate of providing quality out-of-hospital patient care by leading or facilitating clinical and quality related initiatives to inform evidence-based decision making and improve patient care within Alberta.
The EHS Senior Quality Assurance Strategist position will be responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating initiatives and projects related to EHS Clinical Practice with minimal guidance. Key competencies include clinical standards and governance, patient safety, quality assurance and improvement, risk and change management, reviewing patient care, data analysis and presentation, effective communications and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will have related health care experience, education and a solid track record of achievement. This position will report to a Manager within EHS Clinical Practice.
A clinical background and understanding are imperative to this position. Must be registered with the Alberta College of Paramedics or equivalent (registered with a regulated health discipline). Minimum of 5 years clinical experience in Emergency Health Services or related field. Certifications and/or course work from a recognized institution and/or experience, but not limited to, quality management, patient safety, project management, change management, research methods, data management, analysis and presentation. A demonstrated professional and personal growth pattern and commitment to learning. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal communication skills to participate and lead work activities both in person and virtually with partners and stakeholders who are located throughout the province. Ability and willingness to travel within Alberta as needed. Ability to function as a frontline healthcare professional in order to provide clinical and operations oversight for QA/QI purposes.
Proficient in the Microsoft office suite of programs (SharePoint, Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, Access, Project, Teams). Possession of a valid driver’s license.
An undergraduate degree, or a master’s degree in a related field (e.g. quality, health, business, leadership, administration). Registered with the Alberta College of Paramedics as an Advanced Care Paramedic.
