Description
The Senior Program Lead (SPL) is accountable to lead the Cardiovascular Care Alberta Provincial Program within Acute Care Alberta (ACA) that will ensure high-quality, comprehensive cardiovascular care for Albertans as part of provincial strategic oversight. The SPL will oversee the program to (1) Advance health system sustainability, (2) Establish desired outcomes and (3) Promote the adoption of data-driven, evidence based, best practice care for all Albertans. This will ensure high-quality, evidence-based care through clinical standards, quality improvement and system innovation including monitoring across Health Service Delivery Organizations (HSDOs) to meet targets, and both support & sustain system operations, integration, and growth. This position will be part of Acute Care Alberta effective April 1, 2025. Reporting to the Executive Lead, Provincial Program Oversight, the Senior Program Lead (SPL), Cardiovascular Care Alberta is responsible for: Setting strategy, identifying priorities and providing direction to address complex conditions or specialty services related to Cardiovascular Care. In conjunction with Provincial Health Agencies (PHAs), ensuring implementation of approved directives with Health Service Delivery Organizations (HSDOs). Developing provincial roadmaps for achieving both Ministerial and ACA priorities and strategic directions, while also working with PHAs and HSDOs. Leading and directing the development of quality improvement in complex conditions or service specialties through standardized care paths, time to care guidelines, protocols and tiers of service. Providing recommendations on resource allocation, investments and major service configuration elements. Setting strategic direction and guiding research, innovation and clinical collaboration on complex conditions or specialty services related to Cardiovascular Care in alignment with strategic directions. Overseeing reporting on performance, analytics and benchmarking. Providing Ministry, Minister and ACA Executive Team with advice on Cardiovascular Care services to advance a refocused health system and bring a future orientation to enhancing Cardiovascular Care performance and sustainability. The SPL supports the Executive Lead and other members of the Provincial Program Oversight team. This role will develop and maintain effective, positive relationships and foster a climate of cooperation with internal and external stakeholders including patient and family advisors, executive leadership, senior management, government departments and officials, public agencies, service providers, committees, and community partners.
Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare profession is required with a preferred graduate degree in health care management, business administration or a related health care field. The incumbent will demonstrate a clear pattern of professional and personal development.
A minimum of 7 years of progressive senior leadership experience in a healthcare environment, including experience in a senior management role in clinical services or healthcare operations. Extensive practical experience in strategy, policy development, leadership, and project and program management. Utilizes strategic thinking, taking into account long-term goals assessing options and implications Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing long term quality services. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences and to foster partnerships with key stakeholders to achieve organizational goals. Proven ability to influence, negotiate and mediate resolutions to complex situations. Proven record of engaging in ethical conduct.
Experience in Cardiovascular Care. Experience working with Government of Alberta.
