Respiratory Therapist I

Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Respiratory Therapist I will provide support to the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Site. Areas of coverage include inpatient and outpatient departments for adults, older adults and pediatrics.

As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).

Heart and Stroke Foundation BLS and previous experience within acute care required. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Required to walk and transport equipment and oxygen reservoirs throughout the building. Must be able to push, pull and lift up to 50 lbs on a rare basis. Must be able to work independently.

Previous experience within a tertiary rehabilitation hospital preferred. Heart and Stroke Foundation ACLS preferred.
