The Peter Lougheed Centre (PLC) is a 600+ bed acute care hospital in northeast Calgary, serving as the Vascular Centre for Southern Alberta, Southwestern Saskatchewan, and Southeastern British Columbia. PLC is a culturally diverse site committed to patient- and family-centred care. Respiratory Services provides care across ICU, Emergency, inpatient units, and Level II NICU, and is home to Alberta’s only Chronic Ventilation Program. Site respirologists specialize in pulmonary hypertension, neuromuscular disease, and related subspecialties. The Respiratory Therapist I will provide safe, high-quality clinical care; support and educate patients, families, students, staff, and physicians; participate in process improvement initiatives; and provide technical support for respiratory therapy equipment. All RRTs at PLC are expected to work across all clinical service areas supported by Respiratory Services, with assignments adjusted as needed to meet operational demands.

As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).

Current BCLS-HCP Certification. Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy. Minimum 1-year independent clinical Respiratory Therapy experience within the last 3 years in an acute care hospital setting. Consideration may be given to graduates of a Respiratory Therapy program who have completed a final practicum in an acute care setting.

Recent acute care respiratory therapy experience preferred. Certified Tobacco cessation training preferred. Current NRP/ PALS/ACLS certification preferred. CSRT membership active or eligible. Connect Care trained. Preceptor training courses. Completion of PLC orientation.
