Respiratory Therapist I

Come and join our team at the University of Alberta Hospital! As part of the COPD Self Initiative (CSI) Team, you will work both independently and with interprofessional teams. In this role, you will assess patients, develop and implement RT care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for direct patient care, and for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment, and treatments. As part of the CSI team your responsibilities would include: Provide targeted patient education regarding prevention, treatment, and self-management strategies. Optimize medical therapies using COPD best practice guidelines. Optimize patient quality of life. Optimize health status through ongoing assessment with inter-professional team. Facilitate appropriate follow-up and community referrals to decrease health care system utilization.

As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
