Chinook Regional Hospital features: 20-bed ICU, 16-bed Level 2+ NICU, 11-bed Pediatric Unit, Level 3 Trauma Center, Active OR and multiple medical/surgical inpatient units. As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will practice to full scope, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to diagnose and manage patients of all ages with cardiopulmonary and related disorders. Your role includes: Delivering high-quality respiratory care across diverse settings. Educating patients, families, students, and staff. Supporting process improvement and maintaining accountable practice. Advocating for patients using principles of patient- and family-centered care. Providing technical expertise for respiratory therapy equipment. Therapists at CRH are expected to cover all areas they have been oriented to and supported by Respiratory Services as needed. Ability to manage competing priorities, make independent decisions, and resolve conflict effectively. Promotion of a healthy, respectful, and safe work environment. Consideration will be given to Respiratory Therapy students graduating in Spring 2026.
As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.
Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
Current Basic Life Support - Health Care Provider certification. Recent acute and critical care experience within the past 5 years. Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification. Ability to work 11.08-hour day/night rotations. Flexibility to work in all hospital areas, including NICU, Pediatrics, Labour & Delivery, OR, PACU, Wards, ED, Ambulatory RT, and ICU Demonstrated commitment to professional development. Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Ability to manage competing priorities, make independent decisions, and resolve conflict effectively. Commitment to promoting a healthy, respectful, and safe work environment.
Preferred qualifications include Recent neonatal ventilation experience, current PALS and ACLS certifications, competency in arterial line insertion, adult intubation, and point-of-care ultrasound for art lines. Formal mentorship and preceptorship training, relevant bachelor’s degree, and Connect Care experience are assets.
