This a chance to work as part of an experienced, dynamic team that is responsible for communicable disease surveillance and outbreak investigation at a provincial level. The Surveillance and Epidemiology Team supports stakeholders including Communicable Disease Control, the Environmentally Acquired Disease Control Team and Medical Officers of Health through management, analysis, visualization and reporting of communicable disease/outbreak data. Team members have specific content foci - which include Respiratory Viruses, Enteric pathogens, STIs, TB and Immunization - but also work across foci to share expertise and provide back-up support as needed. Daily activities include designing, maintaining and updating of Tableau dashboards relating to communicable disease surveillance, responding to ad hoc requests from stakeholders for data analysis/visualization; providing communicable disease outbreak investigation/data analysis support and preparing reports for stakeholders and collaborating with stakeholders to improve and enhance reporting in communicable disease areas. Team members work with other Public Health Surveillance and Informatics teams, particularly the Data Management & Quality Assurance team. Opportunities for collaboration on research may be available as relevant to the focus of the team. This team is currently scheduled to be transitioned to the Ministry of Primary and Preventative Health Services; this may affect eligibility for hybrid/remote work options (as of February 1, 2026) and union status.

As a Research II, you will be responsible for coordinating research activities which generate and disseminate new knowledge that assists with advancing the understanding of health disciplines and various health and medical concerns. Working with the principal investigator, you will assist with the study design and development of research protocols, determine appropriate data collection methods and measurement procedures, interpret results, develop recommendations and coordinate study approvals. You will also contribute to grant submissions and budgeting, conduct literature reviews and environmental scans and provide day-to-day oversight of research studies/projects.

Master's degree in a health or science related field. Registration with applicable professional association or college where required.

Experience with communicable disease epidemiology in a government/organizational/industry setting. Experience and/or training in study methodologies used in epidemiologic analysis - i.e. case/control, cohort etc.

Experience with Snowflake, SQL and Tableau. Experience with Python. Experience with outbreak investigation in an epidemiological/data management context.
