As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing peri-operative patient care in accordance with CRNA practice standards. The incumbent will demonstrate competence in delivering safe, effective, and efficient care in both a scrub and a circulating role as an integral part of the surgical team. The Nurse is responsible to provide safe care throughout the patient stay in the surgical suite. The Nurse promotes the professional role and evaluates their professional education and clinical practice standards. The scope of practice is a continuum ranging from basic to advanced clinical nursing activities. The RN is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care during the peri-operative patient experience in accordance with hospital policies and standards. The incumbent will work with patients during peri-operative phase of care and must demonstrate a professional, positive attitude, excellent communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills when performing scrubbing and circulating duties in the surgical environment. It is expected that the RN can contribute to quality initiatives and promote a professional work environment at all times. The Main OR (DTC) is comprised of 2 theatres primarily focused on general surgery, and surgical support for an active obstetrical department. This is a busy and fast paced environment. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Mandatory education will be paid for and recommended education, applicable to the position, will be reimbursed. Education required / provided: ACLS, NRP, Fetal Heart Surveillance.

Previous experience and Charge Nurse training may be preferred. Charge nurse duties will apply to this role within the department and as a support / resource to other departments.
