Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of critically ill newborns and their families? Join one of Canada’s Most Advanced Neonatal Care Teams at the Stollery Philip C. Etches NICU, located at the Royal Alexandra Hospital! Our 69-bed unit is one of the busiest and most specialized NICUs in Canada, serving patients from across Northern Alberta, the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. With high acuity and high activity, we provide exceptional care to some of the most vulnerable infants. WHAT SETS US APART: We utilize a Family Centered Care philosophy within an interdisciplinary team model and are proud to be the only NIDCAP (Newborn Individualized Developmental Care and Assessment Program) training center in Canada. A dedicated Resuscitation and Stabilization Team (RST) responds to the High-Risk case room at the Lois Hole Hospital. WHAT YOU’LL DO: Perform a variety of nursing duties and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, patients and their families to achieve positive patient outcomes and improvements in quality care. Nursing care will be administered safely and effectively according to NICU and hospital guidelines. As a RN, you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and wellbeing. Utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. Play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. Provide safe and high quality Patient and Family Centered Care, reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services (AHS). As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii).

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Eligibility is restricted to Graduate Nurses, Graduate Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses who have graduated within 12 months prior to the anticipated start date of the program and who have not yet obtained a regular position with AHS, Covenant Health, or Recovery Alberta. Candidates selected for an interview must review the UNA Letter of Understanding #29 - Graduate Nurse Transition Pilot Program prior to the interview. Previous student or Undergraduate Nursing Employee experience in acute care, critical care, post-partum/mother baby care or pediatrics is preferred. Previous experience in NICU is an asset.
