Description
Drumheller Health Centre (DHC) delivers over 150 babies annually. In this Registered Nurse position working with obstetrical patients, you will have the opportunity to use your advanced clinical skills to perform a variety of nursing duties by administering safe and effective nursing care according to hospital policies and nursing care standards. As the successful candidate, you demonstrate a professional attitude while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, have a thorough understanding of the antepartum/labour and delivery process/postpartum period, and possess extensive knowledge of newborn assessment and breastfeeding. You have experience handling obstetrical emergencies and birth persons with obstetrical complications and/or medical conditions complicated by pregnancy. Primary responsibility is Labour & Delivery, Postpartum, Obstetrical Operating Room. As a member of the Labour and Delivery team it is expected that you will maintain all required certifications and competencies while working on the unit, adhere to policies, procedures, practice guidelines, AHS Values and Code of Conduct. Characteristics and abilities that will contribute to success in this area include: resiliency, accountability, concern for accuracy, physical stamina, and manual dexterity.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
