Assisted Living Alberta is dedicated to enhancing care in the community, helping people/families be healthy, well and independent in their homes and communities. Edmonton Zone Continuing Care provides services through five main program areas: Home Living, Supportive Living, Facility Living, Transition Services and Specialty Programs. The Specialty Programs portfolio includes Children’s Home Care (CHC). CHC is a multidisciplinary team with RN, SW, RT, PT, OT, SLP and TAs collaborating and delivering services to children from birth - 18 years old with a wide variety of medical and/or developmental needs/conditions, including palliative care. The CHC program serves the Edmonton Zone and frequently collaborates with suburban/rural Home Living partners to provide quality care. CHC has an opportunity available for a Registered Nurse. As a RN for CHC, you will act as both a Case Manager (CM) and a direct care provider using a family-centered approach to practice, coaching, assessing, organizing, and communicating. The case management duties include ongoing assessment and identification of the unmet needs of the child/family. In collaboration with the client/family and other partners, and using appropriate internal and external resources, the CM develops a care plan for supports and services that is modified based on the client’s response to the interventions.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

2 years of recent nursing experience (obtained within the last 5 years) or completion of a refresher program within 2 years. Proven ability to provide exceptional clinical care within a continually changing healthcare environment. Self-directed with the ability to work independently. The successful candidate will work independently in different settings and environments. They must be able to lift and carry medical bags, which weigh approximately 12-20 kg. At the time of interview, you may be required to demonstrate your computer knowledge and proficiency by completing a hands-on assessment. Must be able to navigate various computer programs including Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc. Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Recent experience in the care of pediatric clients, including experience with palliative clients, tracheostomies, wound care, HPT and central lines. Experience providing care in community settings. Experience with Connect Care. Demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
