We are seeking an exceptional Recreation Therapist to work at the Northwest Health Centre in High Level. You’ll be responsible for designing and delivering an active, creative, client centered and engaging program to the long term care residents. The position involves assessment, program development, provision of patient care, supervision of therapy assistants and volunteers, and participation in program evaluation. It will also include orientation of students to the service and participation in staff development. You will also provide service to Ft. Vermillion residents as well, travel will be paid. As a Recreation Therapist II, you will take a leadership role in ensuring that the level of therapeutic recreation practice in your clinical area is evidence based, patient-and family-centred and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will provide clinical leadership to ensure safe and efficient care as well as coordinate the assessment, treatment, education and care of the patient (client, resident). You will participate in program development to ensure effective delivery of services, including the development of protocols, forms, education, and quality improvement initiatives. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients¿ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration for Professional Membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA). Minimum three years' related clinical experience as a Recreation Therapist.

Baccalaureate in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies Active member of the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association. Current BCLS-HCP (CPR) certification.
