The town of High Level is located in the scenic northwestern reaches of Alberta. This Permanent Full time Recreation Therapist position is based out of the Northwest Health Centre in High Level and is responsible for the Recreation Therapy program in three long term care facilities in the communities of High Level, La Crete and Fort Vermilion. This includes the supervision and support of recreation therapy assistants at each site and travel will be involved in this position. It is an opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team as you provide therapeutic support to the Long term care Residents of the Area. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. A relocation allowance based on location is also available to successful candidate.

As a Recreation Therapist II, you will take a leadership role in ensuring that the level of therapeutic recreation practice in your clinical area is evidence based, patient-and family-centred and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will provide clinical leadership to ensure safe and efficient care as well as coordinate the assessment, treatment, education and care of the patient (client, resident). You will participate in program development to ensure effective delivery of services, including the development of protocols, forms, education, and quality improvement initiatives. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients¿ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration for Professional Membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA). Minimum three years' related clinical experience as a Recreation Therapist.
