The Edmonton Operational Stress Injury Clinic is part of a national network of clinics responsible for providing specialized mental health and addiction assessment and treatment to individuals and their families referred by Veterans Affairs Canada, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the Department of National Defense. Individuals referred to the clinic are experiencing operational stress injuries (e.g., PTSD, depression, anxiety, addiction). Services are provided by an interdisciplinary team consisting of Psychiatry, Psychology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy and Clinical Social Work. Reporting to the Care Manager, the Psychologist II, will be responsible for providing advanced practice interventions in the areas of assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to individuals with complex psychological disorders, as well as related support services to family. This position will also provide advanced formal psychological assessment services for differential diagnosis and to support care recommendations. The Psychologist II will also use client outcome measurement and document all service using an electronic medical record. The Psychologist II works as part of the clinical team to support the delivery of client services that are safe, high quality, and align with the national OSI clinic guidelines and Recovery Alberta standards. The Psychologist II may also participate in service planning and quality improvement initiatives. The successful incumbent will demonstrate advanced knowledge, skills and experience using psychotherapy (individual and group) that is evidence-based and an ability to effectively collaborate with community care providers.

As a Psychologist II, you will provide advanced clinical services (including psychological assessment, diagnosis and/or intervention), consultation and education to the interprofessional team and patients/families, and/or provides clinical leadership and coordination in an assigned program area. This is an advanced level psychology position that will allow you to work with or within teams to provide and inform services for patients with complex and multi-dimensional medical, psychological, interpersonal, environmental and/or instrumental needs. You will consult, collaborate, and enact initiatives to ensure that practices are evidence based and in alignment with psychology standards of practice and code of ethics, as well as policy, legislation and regulations. You will be expected to lead, facilitate and/or participate in program, policy, and procedure development, service planning, staff development, quality improvement and evaluation, and/or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s). You may provide supervision to doctoral level psychology residents, master's level interns, provisional psychologists, psychometrists and other team members.

Completion of doctoral degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) program. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).

Experience doing psycho-diagnostic, personality, and cognitive assessments. Providing individual and group psychotherapy using an evidence-based modality. Minimum of 3 years of relevant mental health experience. Current Heart and Stroke Foundation (HSF) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.

Knowledge and professional experience with: Substance related and addictive disorders. Experience working with Client Outcome Measurement.
