The Psychiatric Aide will be working on the Central Services Support Relief team with patient populations that include Adult Acute, Forensic, Tertiary Rehabilitation, and Young Adults. This portfolio is under the Edmonton Zone Mental Health and Addiction programs. We provide patient and family centered care, with all team members working within the CoACT collaborative care model and the Addiction and Mental Health - Edmonton Zone Principles of Care. As a Psychiatric Aide, you will work as a collaborative member of the multi-disciplinary team to meet the personal care needs and comforts of patients in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs as well as assist with organized activities or programs. In this position, you will observe and report on a patient¿s mood, health, well-being, maintain effective communication with patients and health professionals, assist with the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors as well as assist in the general support of the work area.

Completion of Grade 12. A combination of education and experience satisfactory to the employer will also be considered.

Recent experience in Addictions and Mental Health. Health Care Aide Certificate and Mental Health First Aid Certificate. Sound observation and strong verbal communication skills. Positive attitude and the ability to work effectively in an Acute Psychiatry setting. Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to adapt quickly to changes in daily schedule and patient needs. Working knowledge of patient and family centered care principles.

Working knowledge of the CoACT model of care. Working knowledge of trauma informed care.
