Physiotherapist II

As the Physiotherapist II (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement, partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. Situated 135km east of Edmonton, Two Hills is an urban center serving an agricultural region. The town has a population of 1,379 while the county has approximately 4,500 people. Residents have easy access to the downtown and commercial areas, as well as several parks and playgrounds. The town has a grocery store, several restaurants, gas stations, two banks, various businesses, churches, two schools with Kindergarten to grade 12, an arena, curling rink, gym and a golf course. Within a half-hour drive are three beautiful lakes ideal for camping and fishing.

As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. AHS is dedicated to supporting our Physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skillsets regardless of location. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings. As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) you will also be able to share patient information real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high quality care.

Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
