This hospital in Valleyview (75 minutes from Grande Prairie) boasts an excellent interdisciplinary team and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with the physicians, nursing staff, and other Allied Health Disciplines covering this facility. This position is part of the Physiotherapy Department at the Valleyview Hospital, and you would support patients in Acute Care, Long Term Care and the Outpatient Department. This position is supported by one other Physiotherapist, Therapy Assistants, and you would work closely and collaboratively with the Occupational Therapist and Recreational Therapists. Close links and working collaboratively with teams in all departments is integral to our success in meeting patient goals. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. AHS is dedicated to supporting our Physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skillsets regardless of location. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings. As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) you will also be able to share patient information real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high quality care.

Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Registered with the Physiotherapy Alberta College and Association. Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel. Completion of a recognized master’s degree in Physiotherapy (or equivalent with experience).

Alberta Aides to Daily Living (AADL) Authorizer status preferred. Clinical experience in a variety of health care settings preferred but not essential. We will provide support and mentoring to a candidate new to the profession.
